Arrest made in February homicide on Northeast Side

Matthew Fontenot, 22, accused of killing Antwine Boyd

SAN ANTONIO – Matthew Fontenot, who has been held in jail since April on outstanding warrants, now is facing a murder charge.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, he admitted to shooting and killing Antwine Boyd, 27, after a dispute earlier this year. Police found Boyd Feb. 21 at an apartment complex in the 4800 block of Ray Bon Drive.

The affidavit stated that witnesses told them Fontenot had been at the complex earlier in the day, asking if anyone knew where he could find Boyd and also making threats about killing him. Shortly before 11 p.m., Boyd was shot dead.

Witnesses at the scene were able to identify Fontenot only by his nickname, "Black," the affidavit stated. Police said their records eventually led them to Fontenot as the suspect. He was arrested April 12 on outstanding warrants.

The affidavit stated that during questioning while he was in custody, Fontenot admitted that he had been fighting with Boyd prior to the shooting, and that he had pulled the trigger.

A murder charge was filed against Fontenot Thursday. Bond for him was set at $100,000.
