3 arrested after armed robbery, shots fired

SAPD: Suspects stole sneakers advertised on Craigslist

SAN ANTONIO – Three men who allegedly were out to steal sneakers advertised on Craigslist have been arrested at a South Side home.

San Antonio police said they also seized several high-powered weapons from inside and outside the house.

Officers tracked down the three suspects just after 3 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 300 block of Gladstone. Police said they found two of them sitting outside, with an SKS rifle nearby.

They had to evacuate several relatives from the home before they went in and arrested the third suspect. Police said they found several other weapons inside.

All three men have been tied to an armed robbery that happened overnight in another part of the city.

Police said the victim had placed an ad on Craigslist in an attempt to sell some sneakers. They said the suspects showed up and demanded the shoes at gunpoint.

As they sped away, the shoes, which they had neglected to remove from the car, fell off into the street. Police said a friend of the victim retrieved them and was attempting to return them when the suspects came back and fired shots in his direction. No one was hit by the gunfire.

One of the men who was arrested already had an outstanding warrant for aggravated robbery, police said.
