SA Food Bank shows off new 18-wheeler

Bank of America donates $200,000 to purchase truck

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Food Bank on Friday showed off it's newest vehicle that will deliver food to the hungry.

The Food Bank recently purchased an 18-wheeler, thanks to a $200,000 donation from the Bank of America.

The newly-purchased big rig, equipped with an insulated trailer, will help the Food Bank transport 9,600 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables from local distributors each week.

"This truck will be on the road thanks to Bank Of America, and it's going to allow us to put a lot of meals on the table for a lot of needy families," said Eric Cooper, of the Food Bank.

The Food Bank has about 40 trucks in its fleet that helps provide hunger relief in 16 counties, and it serves more than 58,000 individuals each week.
