Shooting ends in chase across SW Side

4 arrested, 1 at large

SAN ANTONIO – Four people were arrested and another is still at large following a shooting and high speed chase on the city's South West side Saturday morning.

San Antonio police responded to a call for a shooting in the 5900 block of Fairwood just after midnight.

When they arrived, they found one person had been shot in the chest and stomach, said police.

That victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

A second victim was found in the 200 block of Briggs Avenue, police said.

Police were given a description of the suspects and a vehicle and later spotted it on Five Palms.

When officers tried stopping the vehicle, the driver sped off, leading them on a 25 mile chase through Eastbound Highway 90 and Interstate 35, police said.

During the chase, police said one person inside the vehicle fired gunshots at the officers.

None of the officers were injured.

The chase eventually ended on Drexel Avenue near South New Braunfels Avenue when the suspects started running.

SAPD's helicopter helped locate four of the suspects, and they were arrested.

According to police, one of the suspects is still at large.
