PALMVIEW, Texas – One person is dead and at least two others are in critical condition after a shooting at the H-E-B located in Palmview, found not far from the Texas-Mexico border, the Rio Grande Valley News Channel reports.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. Monday at the H-E-B located near the Frontage Road and Goodwin Road.

KRGV reports that Palmview Police chief Christopher Barrera said that the suspected shooter called 9-1-1 after the crime and wanted to surrender. Police said the suspect instead barricaded himself inside a home, but that they now have him in custody.
