Hand gesture ends in deadly shooting

1999 murder of Daniel Galloway remains unsolved

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said it appears the only contact Daniel Galloway had with the man who killed him in 1999 was a hand gesture.

On Oct. 5, 1999, Galloway was in the passenger seat of his friend's red Ford pickup on Interstate 35 between Pine Street and North New Braunfels Avenue when a car with three to four men pulled up next to them.

"Galloway 'flipped' them off and shots came from the vehicle," police said.

Galloway's friend drove him to Northeast Baptist Hospital where he died.

Police said they have received names of several possible suspects, but no one has been charged with Galloway's death.

"From the original investigation and from the calls that did come in, we know there are citizens out there who can help solve this case," police said.

SAPD's Cold Case Squad is still investigating the case. If you have any information, call 210-207-7635.
