SAN ANTONIO – A Stone Oak restaurant announced it plans to close permanently on Sunday, Oct. 4, according to a Facebook post.
The Old English Tea Shoppe announced the closure as two of its co-owners, Sandra and Peter Marley, made the decision to return to the United Kingdom for “circumstances beyond their control.”

“We want to thank every single customer who has supported us, shared a meal with us, celebrated special occasions with us, and made The Old English Tea Shoppe part of their lives,” the restaurant said in the post.
The restaurant opened in 2023, according to its website, with the mission of offering the “REAL English experience” and cuisine.
Sandra and her husband helped open the restaurant that her brother Robb Kelly dreamed of, the website said.
“It has been an absolute pleasure serving our community,” the statement continued, “and we will forever be grateful for the friendships, memories, laughter, and wonderful moments we have shared.”
The store has advertised an opportunity for someone new to purchase the restaurant.
