SAPD investigating 'senseless' murder of boy, 15

No arrests made in 1993 murder

SAN ANTONIO – A 15-year-old boy walking with friends was killed -- an apparent victim of a random act of violence.

Carlos De La Cruz was using the overhead crosswalk on I-10 near Alametos and Neer Street on Jan. 31, 1993.

"A small two-door vehicle drove by on the access road and stopped," police said. "Someone got out of the vehicle and shot twice, with the second shot hitting De La Cruz."

De La Cruz was with friends and his sister, who police said "was a witness to her brother's senseless murder."

Police said that sister is looking for closure.

The suspect's car was possibly maroon, dark blue, or a brownish-copper color.

SAPD's Cold Case Squad is still investigating the murder. If you have any information, call 210-207-7635.
