Suspect tried buying drugs using counterfeit cash

CONVERSE, Texas – Converse police have charged a man they said shot and killed another man after trying to buy drugs using counterfeit cash.

Tyler Collins, 22, faces a capital murder charge for the shooting death of 25-year-old Thomas Mirone III in August inside a home on Copper Hollow near Randolph Air Force Base.

A warrant for Collins said he tried to buy bags of marijuana using fake bills.

Mirone and another man were shot. Mirone later died at San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Collins’ girlfriend told police he was involved in a series of drug robberies using counterfeit money.
