Downtown worker finds man's body along SA River Walk

Body found Sunday morning

SAN ANTONIO – A downtown worker discovered a body along the River Walk Sunday morning. 

Investigators were called to the downtown area between East Commerce and West Market streets around 9 a.m. but police believe the man's body may have floated south. 

Police said a river barge operator was flagged down by the worker who spotted the body.

The man was believed to have been in his late 20s.

There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, officers said.

SAPD said previous deaths in the river have been from people who drowned, had medical issues, were intoxicated or were victim's of homicide.

Police said the body had been in the water for “sometime.”
