Mother of murder victim hoping $5,000 reward will lead to arrest

Summer Perez killed while putting child in car seat

SAN ANTONIO – A reward is offering a hope for closure for one family. The mother of Summer Rose Perez, 25, is sending out a plea for help with the backing of a $5,000 reward.

Perez was killed at a Citgo gas station on Goliad Road and Pecan Valley Drive, as she was putting her child into a car seat on May 27.

Summer's son, Christopher Kenner, turned 7 in June.

Celebrating birthdays had always been a time for double the excitement, as Summer gave birth to him the day before her own birthday.

This year though, instead of celebrating with his mom, Christopher was at her grave.

There's really no other way to celebrate it you know," said Debbie Perez, Summer's mother.

Six weeks later, Debbie lives each day knowing her daughter's killer is out there.

She is now banking on a financial incentive for information on who shot the mother of two.

"For us, not to know, and don't know if we're going to find an answer to this. Please somebody speak up, say something, anything that’ll help us," Debbie Perez said.

Police have now released a screenshots from security footage taken by the gas station. It shows a white Ford Expedition pull up right alongside Summer's car. Witnesses told investigators a man was behind the wheel.

Investigators say they are specifically looking for an XLT model, years 2003 through 2006.

Debbie Perez said she has no idea who the shooter could have been.

"I've thought. I've racked my brains trying to think of who it could be, or who would do this," she said.
