Man accused of leading police on chase with 2 children in car

Darion Baldwin, 24, charged with endangering a child

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of leading San Antonio police on a chase is facing charges for allegedly doing so with his two young children in the back seat.

Darion Baldwin, 24, was taken into custody July 27 on outstanding warrants. On Tuesday, police added the charge of endangering a child.

An arrest warrant affidavit said that his ex-girlfriend went into SAPD's North substation July 26, asking for help and telling officers that Baldwin had beaten her and taken off with her car which had their two children in the back seat.

The children are both under the age of two, according to the affidavit.

Officers in the area spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it, but they said Baldwin took off.

The affidavit said that he led officers on a chase, driving through neighborhood streets and running red lights.

The officers involved in the chase had no idea the children were in the back seat but stopped pursuing him for safety reasons, the affidavit said.

The woman called police again when Baldwin showed up at her relative's home. Officers arrested him at that time on outstanding warrants.
