Wednesday morning a hurricane watch was issued for parts of the Texas coast, and a tropical storm watch was issued for other stretches.
In a press release, the National Park Service said people should be aware of the following:
• The storm surge is predicted to be 4-6 feet above normal.
• Surges often arrive before the storm.
• This surge will cover the beach up to the dune line.
• Once the beaches reopen, watch out for debris.
The National Park Service will reassess the conditions every morning to determine when the beaches will reopen to beach driving.
