Downtown road temporarily closed after man jumps to his death from hotel balcony

SAN ANTONIO – One block of South Alamo Street was closed after a man jumped to his death from the Hilton Palacio Del Rio Hotel Saturday afternoon.

Police said the man, who was in his mid 20s, jumped from his hotel balcony, hit a tree before landing on a staircase.

The block remained closed for approximately 2 hours before authorities reopened the street around 3 p.m.

In 2014 a man fell to his death from an 18th floor balcony at the hotel.

Authorities are investigating his death as a suicide.
