Man found shot to death on city's West Side

Shooting reported in 700 block of Rivas Street

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his late 20s or early 30s was found shot to death Thursday morning on the city's West Side.

San Antonio police found the victim shortly after the shooting was reported at 9:15 a.m. in a grassy area near a bridge in the 700 block of Rivas Street.

The victim was shot multiple times, and police aren't sure of a motive yet, Police Chief William McManus said.

"I can tell you, though, with a level of confidence, that this was not a random shooting," he said.

The victim may be homeless, McManus said.

There have been calls in the past related to homeless people at the bridge, which an officer checks daily, McManus said. 

The shooter is believed to be in a green, diesel-fueled pickup truck, which was last seen headed on North Trinity Street.
