SAN ANTONIO – Arson investigators have arrested a woman who they say set fire to her car after it was used by a murder suspect.
Tasha Bailey, 30, was taken into custody Wednesday evening on a charge of arson.
An arrest warrant affidavit said Bailey is the girlfriend of Nathan Knowles, 34, who is the suspect in a murder that happened on the near Northwest Side last month.
Knowles also was arrested Wednesday but faces a murder charge. He is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond.
The affidavit said a witness told investigators that he was walking with Michael Berlanga, 40, in the 1700 block of N. Zarzamora Oct. 7 when Knowles drove up to them.
The witness said Knowles began arguing and fighting with Berlanga, then shot him in the head as he ran away.
Police said, according to the description that they were given of the getaway car, Knowles drove off in a beige four door car.
The affidavit said a different witness later reported seeing a man park a beige car on a street nearby soon after he heard gunshots.
He told investigators a woman walked up a few hours after that and tossed something into the car, causing it to erupt in flames.
The car was registered to Bailey, the affidavit says.
It says the witness also was able to identify her in a photo lineup as the person who set fire to the car.
