SAN ANTONIO – Christopher Fuentes was murdered one year ago and police said his killer is still on the loose. Fuentes was shot while working at a bar on San Pedro Avenue.
"It just hurts, a lot, and today is a special day for him. It's his birthday. He'd be 36. So I just want to say, 'Happy birthday, Christopher, that we love you, miss you,'" Edith Delagarza, one of Fuentes's best friend, said.
Information sought in murder of man outside near North Side bar
Fuentes was the bouncer at the Annex Bar. Witnesses told police he was escorting someone out of the club on Oct. 30, 2016, when two people came up and shot him.
"For somebody to do that to him was just cold blooded," Delagarza said.
Fuentes's loved ones don't shy away from the subject of his troubled past.
"He wasn't in the gang life no more. He was more into doing family things and wanted to work," Delagarza said.
She said once he got out of jail, the father, friend and son was an entirely different person.

"He wasn't the way he used to be, like people I guess still pictured him. He was a family man. He wanted to change his life and he did change his life," Delagarza said.
She doesn't know if people from his past targeted him, but what she does know is, she wants the shooters caught.
"Come forward so his mother can have peace, and we can all have peace. He didn't deserve this. We miss him and love him," she said.
