NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – The city of New Braunfels' ban on disposable containers and large coolers is back in the books, which means no more cans on the Comal and Guadalupe rivers.
The ordinance went into effect Wednesday. Signage was created to educate people about the new rules.
No disposable containers will be allowed on the Comal River and portions of the Guadalupe River inside New Braunfels city limits.
Coolers larger than 16 quarts are also banned.
The issue has been tied up in the courts since 2014. Tubing outfitters said the city was overreaching, causing harm to their businesses. The Texas Supreme Court is still reviewing the case.
