"This is the first day we're in the kitchen prepping for this year's Raul Jimenez dinner," Patricia Jimenez, daughter of Raul Jimenez, said.

The Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner was started by restaurant owner and businessman Raul Jimenez in 1979. Jimenez established the Thanksgiving Day event to serve the less fortunate.

The event will be held in Exhibit Hall three and four of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Thursday.

This year, doors will open on Thanksgiving day at 9 a.m. and organizers will begin an "all-faith worship service" at 10 a.m.

Food will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
