Devine teen who stabbed girl 'multiple times' in custody; victim airlifted to hospital, sheriff says

Suspect found at baseball field near Devine High

DEVINE, Texas – Chase Skow, the 17-year-old accused of stabbing a girl multiple times in Devine on Wednesday, is now in custody after leading authorities on a manhunt, officials said.

Skow stabbed a 15-year-old girl then fled, Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown said.

"It is terrible," Brown said. "We have a 15-year-old girl being flown out with multiple stab wounds, so we all pray that she recovers 100 percent."

Authorities searched for Skow just north of Devine near County Road 6612.

Brown said the manhunt led to the baseball field near Devine High School.

"He just walked up and was trying to blend in, sitting on the bleachers," Brown said.

The girl, who Brown said was friends with Skow, was airlifted to University Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Brown said that authorities don't know what led to the stabbing yet, but he said he's heartbroken the incident took place in his county.

"We all know each other," Brown said. "I know who she is, and I know who he is. We are all just a tight-knit community."
