Water heater fire damages Thai Restaurant on city's NW Side

Fire occurred just before 4 a..m. in 1700 block of Babcock Road

SAN ANTONIO – A water heater fire damaged a Northwest Side restaurant early Tuesday morning, San Antonio firefighters said.

The fire was reported just after 4 a.m. at the Thai Restaurant, located in the 1700 block of Babcock Road on the city's Northwest Side.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they they found smoke coming from the top of the building. A bartender from next door said he called about the fire after smelling smoke and seeing flames.

Firefighters said they managed to put the fire out safely. No one was inside at the time of the fire and no one was hurt. A damage estimate is not currently known.
