BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A man discovered a 37-year-old woman he was dating and two girls, ages 10 and 16, dead from gunshot wounds Thursday morning inside a home in a gated, luxury community in far Northwest Bexar County.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said first responders were called around 9:04 a.m. to the home in the 11300 block of Anaqua Springs Road, which is in the Anaqua Springs Ranch community.
Salazar said the man didn't sleep in the home the night before.
It appears the two girls were murdered, and investigators are trying to determine if the woman was shot and killed by another person or if she died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds, Salazar said.
A family member identified the woman as Nichol Olsen, whose name also appeared in online records as a current resident of the home.
The three victims are believed to be "in a family relationship," Salazar said.
The deaths took neighbors by surprise.
"This is a very peaceful, quiet, neighborhood and nothing like this has ever happened before," said Laura Rendon, an Anaqua Springs Ranch resident.
"Just shocking, shocking," said Chris Casady, a neighbor.
Salazar hopes neighbors may have heard or seen something that could be useful or perhaps picked up on a surveillance or doorbell camera.
"Check that footage and share it with us. If it seems like something out of the ordinary, we'd like to know about it," he said. "Naturally, this is not a common area for us to see this sort of activity, but it really just goes to show that crime really knows no boundaries."
