SAN ANTONIO – Police arrested a 17-year-old boy on Sunday in connection with a carjacking that sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Johntavion Marquiess Sounders is charged with aggravated robbery. According to an arrest affidavit, Sounders and another man robbed a 74-year-old man of his car. The incident happened Friday around noon at the Oak Manor apartments on Austin Highway near Perrin Beitel Road.

The affidavit states that police obtained surveillance video showing the victim standing outside of his car as Sounders and another man approached him.

According to the warrant, Sounders got into the driver's seat of the victim's car and that the other man got into the passenger's side. The victim ran around to the driver's side of the car to try and stop the carjacking when Sounders put the car in reverse and hit the victim with the car, the warrant states.

The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with serious injuries. The affidavit states he was unable to tell authorities at the scene what happened due to the extent of his injuries.

Investigators later talked to witnesses who identified Sounders as being involved in the aggravated robbery.
