Woman killed after crashing vehicle into street light and truck identified

UPDATE (9/13/19): A woman who was killed after, police say, she crashed her vehicle into a street light and then into a truck on the city's West Side has been identified as Christine Gallardo.

A local woman is dead after she crashed her vehicle into a street light and then into a truck on the city's West Side, San Antonio police said.

According to police, the unidentified woman drove her black Pontiac Grand Prix straight at a curve and struck a street light just before traveling across a grassy median and into southbound traffic on Rogers Road. The Grand Prix crashed into a black Nissan Frontier, police said.

The woman and the driver of the Nissan Frontier were both taken to University Hospital, where she later was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck is expected to survive.

A driver suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday in a two-car crash on San Antonio's West Side, officials said.

The driver of a black car veered off in the 5200 block of Rogers Road, went onto a grassy median and then struck a light pole, investigators said.

The car then ended up in the southbound lanes of Rogers Road and hit a truck.

The car's driver was taken to University Hospital. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital, as well, but is expected to survive.

Authorities are checking to see if weather factored into the crash.
