SAN ANTONIO – As hundreds of organizations across the nation continue to lend a helping hand in the Harvey relief efforts, the Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team is contributing by giving nearly 70 shelter dogs from San Antonio a second chance almost 1,500 miles away.

The relocation provided by PAART, an animal rescue team from Pittsburgh, allows the San Antonio Humane Society to progress in the effort of rescuing pets from areas affected by Harvey.

“I like animals. I like some people too, but I like animals," Lehman said.

According to PAART’s YouTube page, the organization sent its Disaster Relief and Rescue Trailer to San Antonio and the crew spent “62 hours over a 72-hour period to drive 3,000 miles to help” arriving Sunday.

PAART said its crewmembers “took off work, canceled their holiday plans and left behind their families.”
