SAN ANTONIO Surveillance cameras at the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services building caught a small dog being dumped in front of the building this week, according to shelter officials. The dog, which the staff named Flash, was seen running around the parking lot before running onto the freeway officials said. ACS officials checked the surveillance camera footage and saw Flash had been dumped outside the shelter. Flash tried to follow that person driving away, which is when we noticed him running around our parking lot, officials said in a Facebook post. Wed like to encourage those seeking assistance with a pet to please reach out to us before giving up.Dumping a pet is never the answer, officials said.
All donations to San Antonio ACS to be matched dollar for dollar by Petco Foundation
SAN ANTONIO The Petco Foundation is stepping to the plate when it comes to saving animals lives. Through June 30, all donations to San Antonio Animal Care Services will be matched dollar for dollar by Petco -- to help save twice as many pets, ACS officials announced Wednesday. The matching grant, for up to $20,000, will help ACS maintain its lifesaving work, including increasing the foster network, increasing care for our communitys homeless pets and continuing education efforts for local pet owners, said Lisa Norwood, an ACS spokesperson, in an emailed statement. Residents can help Animal Care Services reach the $20,000 goal by making donation online at saacs.info/matchmydonation. Donations can also be mailed in or dropped off to San Antonio Animal Care Services at 4710 State Highway 151, San Antonio, Texas 78227, c/o Petco Foundation matching grant.
Woman recounts moments before massive flames ripped through her home
SAN ANTONIO A Southeast Side family needs help after everything they owned went up in flames in a massive fire that broke out Sunday evening. It happened so quick, said Lori Farr, the woman renting the mobile home. Unfortunately, Farr lost the ashes of her brother, who died just a year ago. I just thank God above that they are OK.I thank God that my mom is safe, Farr said through tears. My son is safe, my fianc is safe and that we all made it out safe.
2 firefighters rescue kitten from underground sewer near San Antonio elementary school
SAN ANTONIO Two volunteer firefighters from the Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department went underground to rescue a 4-week-old kitten Sunday afternoon. A firefighter went in to have a look around.Jarvis told KSAT the one-pound kitten was in a sewer behind Kinder Ranch Elementary and that the kitten had traveled underground towards Bulverde Road. At home science with Kaiti Blake: Milk & Soda ReactionTwo firefighters had to go into the sewer to rescue the kitten, Jarvis said. That person then took the kitten to a shelter where it was determined to be a boy. The neighbor who took the kitten to the shelter decided to adopt him and name him Stormy.
