SAN MARCOS – For the second time in a month, a display promoting white supremacy was removed from Texas State University's San Marcos campus.

On Monday, a student discovered a banner with the words "AMERICA IS A WHITE NATION" followed by a website address to a site that also promotes white supremacy displayed at the university's library.

Students alerted staff at Alkek Library who said the banner was immediately reported and removed from the building.

Earlier in the month, paper flyers promoting white supremacy were discovered in various buildings at the campus. The incident drew a response from Texas State president Denise Trauth who swiftly condemned the act.

"At Texas State, we celebrate our diversity and inclusion, and there is no place for hate at our university," Trauth said.

Trauth said that universities across the nation have reported 150 similar incidents over the past year. Authorities are investigating the incident. It's unclear what consequences a student will face if found responsible for the act.

"In virtually each case, the acts are believed to have been carried out by individuals outside of those university communities," Trauth said.
