SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar and two other deputies, faced off with 88 female athletes at Heritage Middle School.
Wednesday’s event was part of the Forward in Fitness Initiative.
The nonprofit organization helps children build healthier lives through education and inspiration.
"I had a good time,” Salazar said. “(The) kids were ribbing me and you could hear them saying, ‘Why aren't you in shape’ (and) giving me a hard time. But it's all about having fun with these kids, as I understand it, if you make it fun for them, they're going to want to stay in shape."
Organizers also hope the event will help foster a positive and fun relationship between law enforcement officials and students.
