Authorities release names, cause of death of two people found dead under Northwest Side bridge

SAN ANTONIO – Authorities have released the names and cause of death of a man and woman whose bodies were found under a Northwest Side bridge on April 12.

A San Antonio police spokesperson said a passerby found the man and woman’s bodies underneath the bridge in the 5400 block of Evers Road and called authorities.

The woman was identified on Thursday, April 21, as 38-year-old Dianna Laurel. The ME’s office said she died from a gunshot wound. Her manner of death was listed as a homicide.

On April 14, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said Rick Stepp, 36, died from a gunshot wound. His manner of death was also listed as a homicide.

SAPD said there was evidence the man and woman were living in the drainage ditch under the bridge. Police could not confirm if there is an abundant homeless population in the area, but officers say there are some homeless people who take shelter under bridges.

No arrests have been made in this case.
