Teen shot in chest during altercation at South Side apartment, police say

Incident occurred just before 2 a.m. in 100 block of Emerald Ash

SAN ANTONIO – A 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest during an altercation at a South Side apartment complex early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said.

Officers were called just before 2 a.m. to the Rosemont at University Park Apartments in the 100 block of Emerald Ash after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, the teen was with a group of people at an apartment when a fight broke out between guests and its residents. That’s when, police say, one of the guests pulled out a gun and shot the teen in the chest.

The suspect fled with a man and woman in white sport utility vehicle after the shooting, police said. They have not been found.

The wounded teen was taken by EMS to University Hospital. His name has not been released.

The San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
