Firefighters battle shed fire behind home on city’s East Side

Fire was called in around 1 a.m. in 700 block of North Palmetto Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a shed fire behind a home on the city’s East Side early Monday morning.

The fire was called in around 1 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of North Palmetto Avenue, not far from North New Braunfels Avenue.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they found flames coming from a shed behind the house. They got a quick knockdown of the fire.

Fire officials said there was no damage to the actual home. Officers that responded to the home found a woman with serious burns about a block away and the woman was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center to be checked out. It is unclear how she relates to the fire.

A fire investigation team and arson team have both since been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

The San Antonio Fire Department, the San Antonio Police Department and EMS all responded to the call.

A damage estimate was not given.
