Man shot in groin during altercation on East Side; woman in custody, police say

Incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. in 500 block of Aurelia Street

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 50s was taken to an area hospital after being shot during an altercation on the city’s East Side early Wednesday morning, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called around 4:20 a.m. to the 500 block of Aurelia Street, not far from Roland Road and Interstate 10 after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, officers arrived to find a man shot once in the groin. Police say the man was shot by a woman who was found not far from the scene. A weapon was found at the location.

The wounded man was taken by ambulance to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he’s expected to recover.

SAPD said they believe the shooting may be the result of a domestic incident. The name and age of the woman in custody have not been released.

Police say the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
