A look at road projects wrapping up, starting across San Antonio

San Antonio – The City of San Antonio portal shows hundreds of projects were completed in 2024, including upgrades to streets, drainage and sidewalks.

Many of the projects have impacted drivers' daily commutes.

The voter-approved 2022-2027 Bond pays for the projects. In 2025, some of those projects will begin to wrap up.

Assistant City Engineer David Macbeth said that while people don’t like the traffic associated with projects, it makes the city better.

"In the end, when they’re complete and they’re done, it’s going to be a great benefit to the community," Macbeth said.

Here is a list of some of the major projects that the City of San Antonio Public Works Department staff identified.

Major projects completed in 2024

• Lower Broadway (East Houston Street to IH-35)
• San Antonio Police Department St. Mary’s Substation
• World Heritage Center
• Bulverde Road Phase 1 (Butterleigh Drive to North of Quiet Meadow Street)
• Enrique M. Barrera Parkway Phase 1 (Old Highway 90 Area)

Major construction projects ending in 2025

• South Alamo Street Improvements (Market Street to East César E. Chávez Blvd)
• Zona Cultural (Commerce, San Saba, Santa Rosa)
• Calderon Clubhouse (Boys & Girls Clubs of SA)
• Hemisfair Civic Park Phase 2
• Prue Road (Babcock Road to Laureate Drive)

• Military Drive (Sequoia Height to East of Reed Road)
