According to police, Ferrer Cabrera claimed to have murdered his significant other, Weynandt.

Ferrer Cabrera was formerly detained for questioning and was later arrested for murder and booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, SAPD said.

Police said they aren’t sure what led to the deadly incident.

According to a jail source, Ferrer Cabrera has an immigration detainer on him from Immigration and Customs Enforcement for being in the country illegally.

In addition to the murder charge, court records show that Ferrer Cabrera is also facing a charge of illegal entry from a foreign nation.

An ICE detainer allows the jail to hold Ferrer Cabrera for up to 48 hours, giving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security time to take custody in compliance with federal immigration law.

The detainer gives ICE time to decide whether to take Ferrer Cabrera into federal custody for deportation.
