Person killed in single-vehicle crash on far South Side, SAPD says

A police report said the vehicle was speeding just before the crash

SAN ANTONIO – A person was killed in a single-car crash on the South Side, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Moursund Boulevard, which is near East Ashley Road.

The unidentified driver was speeding just before losing control of their Dodge Durango. The vehicle struck a nearby guardrail and utility pole before it caught fire in a drainage ditch, according to an SAPD preliminary report.

The department also said the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle. Medical personnel pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

The driver’s cause of death is under investigation by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

SAPD said its investigation is ongoing.
