Motorcyclist killed in five-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in San Marcos, city officials say

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in San Marcos, a city spokesperson confirmed to KSAT.

The crash was reported just before 2:30 a.m. in the 2800 block of South I-35 near McCarty Lane.

Investigators determined the motorcycle struck another southbound vehicle, officials said.

The motorcyclist suffered “fatal injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. He was identified as Khristian Vicknair, 33, of New Braunfels.

No other injuries were reported.

The southbound lanes of I-35 were closed for approximately six hours while the San Marcos Police Department’s Collision Investigation team worked the scene and crews cleared the roadway.

In a Facebook post, San Marcos police said the roadway reopened at 9 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
