CONVERSE, Texas – A man was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his brother in Converse, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KSAT.
Darrin Rogers Jr., 36, faces one count of murder and a $250,000 bond, records show.
The shooting happened around 4 a.m. on July 5 in the 200 block of Michelle Drive, near Gibbs-Sprawl Road. An affidavit states police responded to a “shots fired” call.
Upon arrival, a Converse police officer found a witness who said they heard multiple gunshots coming from the backyard of a home. The witness also said they saw a male leaving the home after the shooting.
Officers found a shattered rear sliding glass door and a man, identified as Anthony Rogers, lying dead with multiple gunshot wounds, an affidavit states.
Authorities obtained a search warrant and found eight .40 caliber cartridge casings. They also found information on Anthony’s brother, Darrin, who was identified as the suspect.
Prior to his arrest, officers learned the two got into confrontation the day before, with Darrin Rogers Jr. pointing a gun at his brother before getting kicked out, an affidavit said.
Additionally, a relative said Darrin Rogers Jr. allegedly expressed “violent behavior” toward him for several months.
Converse CID deputies interviewed Darrin Rogers Jr., who refused to discuss any details in regard to his brother’s death.
Authorities seized his clothing and cellphones and later found a hit for gun residue and data that connected his phone to his brother’s Wi-Fi network, an affidavit states.
They also found a receipt for a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson Pistol, which was purchased two days before and used in the shooting.
With the assistance of the Texas Rangers and the evidence collected, authorities would arrest Rogers Jr. and charge him with murder.
His next court hearing is in Feb. 2026, records show.
