DEL RIO, Texas – Gov. Greg Abbott hosted a Border Security Summit on Thursday in Del Rio.

According to a news release, the event will bring together Texas sheriffs, police chiefs, county judges, mayors, and landowners who will hear from state officials on the actions that the State of Texas is taking to secure the southern border and address the surge of migrants.

The summit will also focus on collaborative strategies to secure border communities, the news release said.

Abbott will give the keynote address and will be joined by Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Maj. Gen. Tracy Norris of the Texas Military Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw.
