SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio company is helping bicyclists in San Antonio who are seeking a speedier and greener option.
Bronko Bikes manufactures electric bike kits or e-bike conversions.
Company founder Bryan Martin said the kit can be installed on any bike with a 68-72 mm bottom bracket.
Martin said the kit comes with a rechargeable battery that can be mounted to the frame or rear rack, a screen and controls.
A recharged battery allows a biker to ride about 20 to 40 miles at 20 to 30 mph.
Bicyclists can pedal or use a throttle.
"Ebikes are good for your health and the planet's health. The carbon footprint is much less than driving a car. There is no exhaust," Martin said.
The kits range from $800 to $1,200.
Bronko Bikes started in the summer of 2012.
