University Health System honors veterans with ceremony

Veteran staff, physicians employed by University Health System

SAN ANTONIO – People across the city honored the men and women who served in the armed forces on Veterans Day. University Health System held a ceremony to salute military veterans, including some of its own physicians and staff.

Emergency medical physician Dr. Andrew Muck was the keynote speaker. He served in the Air Force as a critical care air transport physician during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

"One thing we learned in the military is the unity found in a common mission. When you have a common set of core values, you are united and can do great things,” Muck said. “In a time when we need unity in our country, let Veterans Day be the reminder to be our better selves.”

Muck said he believes sacrifice is a part of a life well lived.
