Think you have what it takes to play in the NBA? Spurs' G-League team is holding tryouts

SAN ANTONIO – The Austin Spurs, the 2018 NBA G-League Champions and G-League affiliate to the San Antonio Spurs, is hosting local player tryouts on Saturday, Sept. 15 in Round Rock.

The tryouts will be held at the Round Rock Sports Center located in the 2400 block of Chisholm Trail, with check-in starting at 8:30 a.m.

A press release said the tryouts will provide players an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the Spurs basketball operations staff and coaches, with attendees competing to earn an invitation to the Austin Spurs training camp in October.

Former San Antonio Spurs guard Jonathon Simmons got his start with the Austin Spurs after participating in the tryouts back in 2013. Another player, Jordan Green, played with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2018 NBA Summer League games after attending the 2017 tryouts. 

The tryouts are limited to the first 200 registered players who have submit their completed registration forms and payment. Registration was originally due on Sept. 7. Presently, only walk-up registration is now available and that is subject to availability and costs $200.
