KSAT 12 to shuffle daytime lineup for 9 a.m. newscast

'Good Morning San Antonio @ 9' to debut March 27

SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12 is making big changes to its lineup in order to capitalize on the power of "Good Morning San Antonio" and to give viewers better viewing options into the afternoon, KSAT 12 Vice President and General Manager Phil Lane said.

“We have never been more excited about changes to our lineup, because the shift will also help ABC daytime programming, while giving us a bigger local presence in the morning,” Lane said.

“Good Morning San Antonio @ 9” will be hosted by Leslie Mouton and Mark Austin. Justin Horne will provide weather stories and updates, KSAT 12 News Director Bernice Kearney-Bonner said.

“It will be different from our other newscasts, and will be perfect for college-age viewers and work-at-home moms who can’t always watch so early in the morning,” Kearney-Bonner said.

Details about the 9 a.m. newscast format will be coming soon, but KSAT 12 bosses agree it won’t be a typical news format.

Since Leslie and Mark will be co-hosting "GMSA" from 4:30-7 a.m. and "GMSA @ 9 a.m.," Ursula Pari and David Sears will take over anchoring duties on "KSAT 12 News at Noon" and Myra Arthur and Steve Spriester will anchor the "KSAT 12 6 O’Clock News."

KSAT 12 worked with its network partner, ABC, to research the best time periods for some of its shows, including “The View,” “The Chew” and “General Hospital.”

In the new lineup, “Live with Kelly” will move to 10 a.m., “The View” to 11.a.m., “The Chew” to 2 p.m. and “General Hospital” returns to its long-held former time period at 3 p.m. “TD Jakes,” which currently airs at 3 p.m., will be removed from the schedule.

“We and ABC really feel these moves will shore up our daytime lineup and provide KSAT 12 viewers with more local viewing options,” Lane said. “These are time period upgrades for 'Live with Kelly,' 'The View' and 'The Chew.'"

"With “The Chew” currently airing at 11 a.m., the station is forced to delay airing the show by one day. The move will place “The Chew” on a same-day schedule, which will most make the show more enjoyable for viewers, as it will air on the same day it’s produced.

Here is the new programming schedule, which will launch March 27:
