San Antonio has begun to consider a potential name change for César E. Chávez Boulevard following the recent sexual abuse allegations against the late labor and civil rights activist.

American labor and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta said that she was sexually abused by United Farm Workers co-founder César Chávez in the 1960s.

The United Farm Workers said in a statement on Tuesday that it has learned about abuse allegations against union co-founder César Chávez involving young women and minors.

San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones joined KSAT’s 6 O’Clock News on Tuesday evening to discuss topics ranging from a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility to the cancelation of the annual César E. Chávez March for Justice.

The Cesar Chavez Legacy and Education Foundation has canceled the 2026 March for Justice. The foundation cited "a sensitive matter" as the reason.
