More than 880 workers in Bexar County have been affected by layoffs this year, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act Notices.

The pending shutdown of Bimbo Bakeries’ East Side location this fall will result in the layoff of an estimated 138 people - the second most of any layoff in Bexar County so far this year.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A deadly hit and run accident closed Interstate 10 at Fair Oaks Parkway in far North Bexar County for several hours Thursday morning before opening shortly before 7 a.m., authorities said. The accident was reported around 3:45 a.m.James Keith, a spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said a woman told them the pair had car trouble and pulled over to the side of the road. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said they only have a vague description of the vehicle and that the man was hit by a black truck. The Bexar County Sheriff's office has not released any information on the identify of the victim and the crash is still under investigation. Westbound I-10 in the area of Fair Oaks Parkway has since reopened in Northwest Bexar County.

SAN ANTONIO – Update @ 11:40 a.m.:Bexar County Sheriff's Office said both lanes of Highway 281 are open. Original story:1 person was killed and another is in the hospital following a major accident early Tuesday morning on Highway 281 northbound, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said. The accident occurred just before 6 a.m. on Highway 281 North near E. Borgfeld Drive in far North San Antonio. A northbound silver pickup hit the first pickup, pushing the truck a few feet onto a grassy median. Northbound 281 lanes are still shut down in the area and traffic is presently backed up.
