San Antonio Kiddie Park to reopen this month
SAN ANTONIO The historical San Antonio Kiddie Park, originally opened in 1925, is set to reopen its gates on June 19. Weve been looking forward to welcoming back families to Kiddie Park so that they can enjoy these historic rides as generations have before, said San Antonio Zoo president Tim Morrow. Were thrilled that the birthday party tradition can restart here for all San Antonians.Historic sculptured bench near San Antonio Zoo damaged in hail stormThe Kiddie Park moved to its new home at the San Antonio Zoo in October 2019. There will be hand sanitizer stations in the park, capacity will be limited to 50% and Kiddie Park will conduct temperature checks on all staff and vendors at the beginning of their shift. Kiddie Park hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and unlimited rides wristbands will be available for $12.
San Antonio Zoo forced to furlough majority of staff members due to closure
SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio Zoo announced Friday it was forced to furlough a majority of staff members. โAs a nonprofit cultural institution, San Antonio Zoo is entirely dependent on visitation, grants, and donations to operate. The Zoo Train and Starbucks will continue to operate in Brackenridge Park with new social distancing procedures, zoo officials said. โOur zoo crew is our family, and we are assisting everyone affected to obtain governmental assistance and or other jobs within our community. We look forward to brighter days ahead and welcoming our team and guests back to the zoo once we can reopen to the public.
