KSAT Community and Texas Eats are teaming up with the San Antonio Food Bank and Meals On Wheels for a vital “Fill The Truck” food drive on Monday, Nov. 10.

Meals on Wheels San Antonio’s meal deliveries, which were set to stop for 350 people in need in Bexar County due to funding loss amid the government shutdown, will continue.

KSAT Community and Texas Eats are teaming up with the San Antonio Food Bank and Meals On Wheels for a vital “Fill The Truck” food drive on Monday, Nov. 10.

H-E-B announced a $5 million commitment to support food banks across Texas and an additional $1 million donation to Meals on Wheels programs statewide, according to a news release.

Bill Miller donated $190,000 to Meals on Wheels last week after the provider announced a lapse in service due to "a significant funding cut."

Meals On Wheels San Antonio currently provides meal service to around 3,600 clients in Bexar, Frio, and Atascosa counties, but that number will drop the week of Nov. 3.

Meals On Wheels is in dire need of volunteers to deliver meals to senior citizens.

On Saturday, more than 400 volunteers came together with one goal in mind: to help folks beat the heat.

The rising gas prices are having an impact on local Meals on Wheels, and it’s adding on to problems already left behind by the pandemic.

Hundreds of Meals On Wheels San Antonio volunteers delivered over 2,000 meals to families across San Antonio and Bexar County for the second time since the start of the pandemic.
