It’s medal-maniacs season in San Antonio, and if you’re collecting a bunch of Fiesta medals this year, San Antonio creatives say don’t forget the ones from last year.

A self-described “medalhead” and local mother is using her favorite Fiesta tradition to honor her late son’s memory, raising money and awareness for mental health nonprofits in San Antonio.

Laura Capeles, also known as The Sash Lady, and Phil Zavala with Image Avenue Clothiers joined Ernie Zuniga and Stephanie Serna on GMSA+ to explain how to proudly display your Fiesta medals and gave a little bit of sash history.

Over 30 local nonprofit organizations and vendors participated in a Fiesta medal market on Sunday morning on the North Side.
