Shoppers were met with a vehicle in a sinkhole at a shopping center on the far West Side.

A sinkhole that appeared near a police department in West Virginia last year has grown worse in recent weeks, threatening a local police department.

Back in May, a farm in Mexico started developing a sinkhole that has since caused the evacuation of a family living in a nearby house, the collapse of that same house and a rescue operation for two dogs that, like the house, were also swallowed up by the sinkhole.

Crews are repairing a major sinkhole on one of California's largest freeways. The hole opened up as work was being done Tuesday on Interstate 5 in the San Joaquin Valley. CBSN's Elaine Quijano has details.
