The first ‘tornado warning’ is issued by military personnel at Tinker Air Force Base

It was on this day in 1948 that United States Air Force Capt. Robert Miller and Maj. Ernest Fawbush issued the first ever tornado warning or alert. It occurred at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, with the duo correctly predicting a tornado.
