SAN ANTONIO – Just when we thought this heat and drought situation we’ve be dealing with couldn’t get worse, it did.
With the year ending, 2024 is now the hottest year on record in San Antonio. We beat out the record that was set just last year. Records have been kept since 1885.
THE STATISTICS
HOTTEST YEAR ON RECORD: With an average temperature of 73.2°, 2024 now tops the list.
2nd HOTTEST DECEMBER DAY ON RECORD: On Dec. 30, San Antonio hit 89°, the second hottest December day on record.
WHAT’S AHEAD
What does this mean for 2025? There’s no way to know, but we are forecasting colder weather to start the year.
La Nina is forecast to persist for the first half of the year, which generally means drier conditions. In other words, don’t expect the drought to end anytime soon.
